During Sunday we had an opportunity to get familiar with general purposes of ICT implementation in nowadays business. During the meeting we were involved in an interesting discussion about the necessity of using information systems to support managing processes in companies. We had a chance to see how groupware systems can improve cooperation between distant-location business. The prepared method of providing today’s meeting was extremely involving – we could express our opinions, we could negotiate, understand our misunderstandings. Later on, we have been involved in some pretty challenging tasks, where each of us received roles and some responsibilities related to real work in Business Informatics area.  The idea of this task is to physically update the data repository for sample project web page. In this processes, we are divided into some smaller teams where we depend on one another. On the one hand, we are learning how to build, cooperate within and manage teams and on the other hand, we are actually involved in real tasks where tasks division is clear and easy to control. We are very excited to  taking part in such event, where in an easy way we can see fast results of our work! Can’t wait to see the results in some time!

In Tuesday Morning we started our classes with Ph. D. Maciej Pondel. This classes went about PowerBI software and how to use in Business Informatics. It is very lucid and useful application for everyone – not only for large business.
Next, we went to a discussion of analysis tools in Microsoft Excel. Ph. D. Pondel presented Power Pivot, Power View, Power Map and Power Query. Additional he took about PowerBI’s possibilities, functions and how to use it.
On the labs, we used tools in PowerBI software. We had to load tables the same which we used on the classes when we working with Pentaho platform. Our next exercise was to add the exchange rate which calculates foreign currency and present visualization this task as a ring chart and column chart. We also show a date with help map which shows us information in circle diagram in specific places. Our last exercise was explained information our teacher.

  • Zoom
  • Work Examiner
  • OsMonitor

The result was a presentation of our opinions and feelings about those applications, considering the advantages and disadvantages of the solutions chosen. Thanks to those classes students were provided with a practical insight and skills to better understand and make a better use of the distance management software.

Topic: Artificial Intelligence Methods in BI.

Today’s meeting was totally different. During the meeting, we had a chance to discover how artificial intelligence is surrounding us and how much we create it. Our lecturer guides us with this topic with one of the most popular movies: Minority Report and  Artificial Intelligence. Discussion about obvious consequences, potential risks allowed us to move this way of thinking to a business perspective based on artificial intelligence solutions. That was very helpful to understand how Business Intelligence is placed in ICT solutions. Professor presented us how an ideal thinking about automatization in business processes support can look like. During the meeting, we had also an opportunity to use our imagination and prepare in teams, the best in our opinions, ICT solutions for particular business branches supporting its everyday activities.
